Post-Apocalyptic Tokyo, Reclaimed By NatureWho knew that the apocalypse would be so lush, verdant, and hauntingly beautiful? Tak Sakaguchi, star of Versus, is working on his directorial debut. Cosgrove passed this on to me and it while the trailer is short, it looks like it's going to be a fun movie. I mostly just like the title, of course. Capcom Changes Plunder's Name; We ApproveI see no problems with Plunder's new name. Story via Kotaku.
George Carlin: Dead At 71The world lost a true genius. George Carlin has passed away due to heart failure at 71. Some OtakuBooty members saw his final performance last weekend during BootyCon. OB member Mel reports that Google's cached version of his website's schedule lists his last performance as June 15th, with his next performance not scheduled until July 20. Discussion. BootyCon 2008 PicturesFinally, pictures! BootyCon 2008 was another fantastic success. Over 100+ OtakuBooty members gathered together at a town in the middle of the desert for an extended weekend of friendship, eating, drinking, dancing, gambling, and various acts of depravity. I took around 600-700 pictures and here are the best -- or least horrible -- 300 or so of them. See all 300+ of my BootyCon 2008 Pictures at Flickr. Also see this forum thread where our members have posted their own image galleries. Here are a few of my favorites. ![]() #1 Thom and Joe look casual and assured #2 Sergio looks like an angry Tony Montana #3 Dana accepts her Best Boobs award #4 Sergio thinks, "This town is like a great big..." as he plots his takeover. #5 Scene from the registration desk on Thursday. Two Gurren-Lagann Movies Confirmed From AnimeNewsNetwork:Members of the Japanese animation studio Gainax held a "What's a Gainax, and a Day in the Life at Gainax" panel at FanimeCon in California on Friday to describe their ongoing work, and confirmed that they are working on two Gurren Lagann films. The studio had previously indicated that the first movie, Gekijō-ban Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann: Guren-hen (Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann the Movie: Crimson Chapter), would not cover the entire story. Sounds like they're compilations of the story told in the television series. Knowing Gainax, there will surely be some new scenes, or at least some old scenes re-done with movie-level eye candy. Link to story at ANN. Tatsunoko vs. Capcom Arcade Game in the WorksWe all have fond memories of the Marvel Vs. Capcom series of fighting games. One of the great injustices in gaming history occurred when Capcom lost that license to the, uh, geniuses at EA. This is almost too good to be true, though: TATSUNOKO VS. CAPCOM: CROSS GENERATION OF HEROES is in the works. Tatsunoko is the animation studio wholly or partly responsible for classic anime series such as Super Dimensional Fortress Macross, Mach Go Go (known as Speed Racer in North America), Gatchaman (released as Battle Of The Planets and G-Force in North America) and Yatterman. So far, Ken and Chun-Li appear to be confirmed, as are Ken from Gatachman and the titular character from Casshern. At least as far as anybody can tell from the crappy scan from an upcoming Famitsu Magazine. No word on a home release for this game yet, but it's hard to imagine it not appearing on home consoles. Let's just hope Capcom doesn't think that the Tatsunoko characters are too obscure for American tastes. Thanks for Oshi to first pointing this out to me via his blog. See his existing discussion thread here. Update: Hitsu provided a much better scan. ![]() Marital ChartI guess I should just replace OB's profile system with something along these lines. ![]() From American Psychological Association via BoingBoing and Mind Hacks.
